In time, the filters can get dirty and even clogged, thus reducing the efficiency of the unit and even causing health problems for you and your loved ones. After making sure that you have all the tools you need, you can start the cleaning process. The first thing you should do is to remove the filter from the air conditioning unit. Some filters can simply be unscrewed from the unit (exterior filters), while other need to be taken out of the unit after removing the casing. This depends on the type of air conditioner you have. To make sure you are doing it properly, you should check the user’s manual.
After you have removed the filter, you can put in in a tub of water and wash it thoroughly. After getting all the filth out, you should change the water and rinse the filter in water mixed with disinfectant.
After that, let the filter dry for at least half an hour. After you make sure that it’s completely clean and dry, you can put it back on the air conditioning unit.
